Produced by the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA Regional Secretariat) and fesmedia Africa of the Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung (FES), this documentary looks at the importance of access to information in Africa. The documentary is intended to be a campaign resource for access to information advocates.

The video looks at why access to information is important for issues such as advancing human rights, health, governance and education. It is a prerequisite for transparency and accountability of governments, as a means of safeguarding citizens against mismanagement and corruption, and facilitating people’s ability to make informed decisions about their lives.

It also looks at what has been achieved so far with a particular focus on the work of the African Platform on Access to Information (APAI) project, and ends off with information on what organisations and individuals can do to improve access to information in their country.
